The 2010 Grand National Show will be here before you know it. Check out this link for the 2010 logo. In an effort to try
and create “brand recognition”, this year there will be no theme but a logo that can perhaps be used in some form or fashion,
in years to come. As always, items for the Silent Auction will be needed. I am asking that Regional Delegates let their
regions know that a regional basket would be great again this year. Many thanks for the participation in the past several
years. Everyone has come through with some wonderful and exciting baskets. For more information on who to contact for the
Silent Auction or anyone else on the show committee please click on the link and you will find phone numbers and e-mail
addresses.
Here are a few updates to let you know what it going on with the show. There are some new items so be sure and click on
the links to find out more about them. Look for the tri-fold order form for the prize list, coming soon to you in the mail.
If you would like a “hard copy” sent to you, please make sure you mail it into office by the deadline date. The prize list
will be available on line (after May 30th) as in year past. This year, there will be no online entries. You will need to
mail, e-mail or FAX your entries to Four Winds West, but please, choose one avenue by which to send them to control confusion
with duplicates entries. Remember that your entry is not considered complete until payment has been received.
A familiar face or two will be back this year as Four Winds West has once again, signed on for the show. They did a great job
in 2009 and I, as well as many others, are looking forward to working with them again. Please do not hesitate to contact them
(or myself) with questions or concerns regarding aspects of the show. The contact information can be found on the show committee
link.
Cathy George will be handling the class and ribbon sponsorships as well as the farm sponsorships. Her contact information can be
found by clicking on the links. Don’t delay! Contact her soon to take advantage of early payment discounts offered on select farm
sponsorships as well as make your table reservation early. Individual tables, if available, will be offered 1) if they are available
and 2) only after assignment of sponsors have taken place. The individual tables, if any are left to sell, will be available for
purchase after September 18, 2010. Our Big Screen and vendor spots will also be available for purchase through Cathy.
The class schedule is very similar to the 2009 schedule with the change being that the youth portion of the show will start on Thursday
morning instead of the afternoon. The schedule, until that point, is almost exactly as it was the previous year but please take not of
the latter portion of the schedule.
There are quite a few new things to consider this year. Again, please click on the links for more information. This information will
also be repeated in the prize list after May 30, 2010.
1. Please be aware that the judging system for 2010 is very different from years’ past which has been the F1/F2 MOS system. This
year, the “Five Judge System” or the “Olympic System,” (also known as the “High Low System”) will be implemented. Please click on the
link provided for a full explanation of the process involved in this type of judging system.
2. We will no longer use the multi-purpose or beef/dairy barns. The new horse barn is currently under construction with new amenities
to suit our needs as well as a covered practice ring adjacent. To get an idea of the placement of this barn please click on the map of
the grounds link provided here. The new barn is “building 22” with the covered practice ring, “building 21”.
3. The exhibitor dinner will be held again on Wednesday evening (which isn’t new) but what is new is that we will have the dinner in
the new Livestock Equine Arena, “building 19” on the map of the grounds. Toney Rodriguez is putting together a special performance,
“Parade of Past Champions”. If you have a horse that won first place in a National or Grand National competition, please contact him
at tonyrodriguez@aol.com or tonypasofino@aol.com. How nice it will be to have dinner while entertained by horses. Afterwards, stick
around for some dancing! His cell number is 305-439-1277 and home phone is 954-434-1230. He is also going to coordinate the “Parade
of Flags” so he might be in touch with some of you very soon!
4. All yearly awards will be given out during the show, in the arena. For the past 2 years, they were awarded at dinner but this year
we most likely will not have the time to do so with the “Parade of Champions” during dinner. Please consult the prize list for the daily
schedule of awards to be handed out to their well deserved recipients.
Enjoy the 2010 Show Season and here’s to a very successful Grand National Show!
