SOUTHWESTERN PASO FINO HORSE ASSOCIATION

The Southwestern Paso Fino Horse Association was organized in 1986. SWPFHA currently has more than 350 members with over 1200 Paso Finos. Our region is comprised of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and a portion of Louisiana. We have several large breeding and training farms some with Paso populations reaching 100 horses.

Southwestern sponsors four shows a year. Show sites include Houston in the fall, and Shreveport/Marshall, Tulsa (co-sponsor with the Ozark Empire region) and Dallas in the spring and summer. More than 30% of our regional members are involved in showing their Pasos.

A large number of our membership is also involved in trail rides and parades which offer great Paso promotional opportunities. Team penning, roping and barrel racing are traditional western events which members are also becoming involved in with their Pasos. We try to have as many schooling shows and clinics as possible, featuring local trainers as well as those from other areas. Topics include breeding and foaling, training, breaking, equine business management and planning, etc. These events are always well attended.

Our current elected Officers and Board of Directors are committed to sensitivity regarding the needs of our membership and the promotion of the Paso Fino breed. The SWPFHA Officers and BOD would like to thank all of the National BOD members and all those in the PFHA office for your support.
